Phil and PhD programs. It is one of the largest centers for research in Plant Sciences among all the Universities in Pakistan. Many individuals have research projects funded form Higher Education Commission, Pakistan Science Foundation, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council and WWF. The Department is well equipped with modern research facilities. The major equipments present are IR and UV visible spectrophotometers, Biodiesel kit, Microtome, Digital light microscopes, Shimadzu Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, HPLC (High performance liquid chromatography), PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) Machines for DNA sequencing, plant growth chambers, etc. The research programs for M. Phil and PhD degrees are spread over various disciplines, depending on the expertise of the faculty members which are as follows: 1. Plant Taxonomy and Biosystematics 2. Plant Physiology and Plant microbial Interaction 3. Biofuel and Biodiversity 4. Environmental Biology 5. Plant Biochemistry / Molecular Biology 6. Plant Genomics International linkages are established with foreign universities. The Research work in the Phytohormone Lab of Prof. Dr. Asghari Bano comprises. 1. Formulation of Bioinoculants & Biofertilizer from PGPR. ( Plant Growth promoting Rhizobactaria for aid field areas & salt affected soil. 2. Research is in progress to fomulate Biopesticides. 3. To improve the quality & quantity of Biodiesel.
